Empress 4th Birthday – Celebratory Sips!
Mix up a cocktail, and let’s make a toast!
We recently celebrated four years of Empress 1908 Gin! The past few years have brought so many exciting milestones. From growing our team to nearly 40 amazing members, reaching over 100k followers on Instagram and seeing Empress 1908 in cocktails around the globe— it’s been an amazing journey to say the very least! In order to start the ‘virtual’ party, we partnered up with 5 amazing mixologists and friends to mix up the perfect celebratory cocktail creations!
From champagne-topped spritzes to tall, tropical tikis, each creation has something unique to bring to the table. Would you sip on the sweet & citrusy ‘Empress Jubilee’? Or perhaps you prefer the rich & decadent ‘Strawberry Rhubarb Brown Butter Fizz? The choice is yours with the recipes below!
EMPRESS JUBILEE
Firstly, start with the show-stopping ‘Empress Jubilee’, which features elderflower liqueur, yuzu marmalade, lime juice and, of course, champagne! For more from @spiritedla, click here.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 oz Empress 1908 Gin
- 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- ¾ oz Yuzu Marmalade Syrup
- ¾ oz Elderflower Liqueur
- 3 oz Champagne
METHOD:
Shake elderflower liqueur, lime juice and yuzu marmalade syrup on ice and strain into a cocktail glass with pebbled ice. Top with champagne and float Empress 1908 on top!

EMPRESS CORONATION
Next up, sip on the celebratory ‘Empress Coronation’, by @cheerstohappyhour. This one stands out with traditional tiki flavours and a garnish fit for the queen!
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 oz Empress 1908 Gin
- ¾ oz Orgeat
- ½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
- ½ oz Grapefruit Juice
- 6 Sage Leaves
METHOD:
Muddle the sage in a shaker with the orgeat. Add all other ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with dehydrated grapefruit & sage.

BROWN BUTTER STRAWBERRY RHUBARB FIZZ
Are you in need of something as decadent as it is delicious? Why not try your hand at mixing up this lovely, layered masterpiece by @craftandcocktails! To get started, you can find the recipe for the Strawberry Rhubarb Brown Butter Syrup here.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1½ oz Empress 1908 Gin
- 1 oz Brown Butter Strawberry Rhubarb Syrup
- ½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ oz Amontillado Sherry
- 1 Egg White
- 1½ oz Champagne
- Strawberry, to garnish
METHOD:
Add syrup, sherry, lemon and egg white to a shaker without ice, and dry shake. Add ice & wet shake. Strain into a glass. Top with champagne. Slowly pour in Empress 1908 Gin to float for the gradient effect.

SETTING SAIL FOR VICTORIA
Take a trip to our hometown, Victoria, with this vibrant and citrusy sip, created by @beautifulbooze! Inspired by her visit to our distillery back in 2019, this is one you don’t want to miss.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1½ oz Empress 1908 Gin
- ¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- ¾ oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
- ½ oz Strawberry Syrup
- Edible Flowers
METHOD:
Shake ingredients (except gin) on ice. Strain over crushed ice in a cocktail glass. Float Empress 1908 on top and garnish with edible flowers!

EMPRESS SPARKLER
Finally, make a sparkling toast with this stunning, bubbly cocktail! Complete with a sparkler for garnish, this creation by @theweekendmixologist is the life of any party.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1½ oz Empress 1908 Gin
- ½ oz Rhubarb Liqueur
- 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ oz Strawberry Syrup
- Champagne, to top
- Mint Sprig & Lemon Slice
METHOD:
Add all ingredients except champagne to a shaking tin and then add ice. Shake and double strain over ice into a footed cocktail glass. Top with champagne and garnish.
